In a thrilling development for horror aficionados, David Arquette is set to reprise his iconic role as Deputy Dewey Riley in the upcoming “Scream 7,” despite the character’s demise in the 2022 installment.
This unexpected return aligns with the franchise’s recent trend of reviving characters previously thought dead. Notably, Matthew Lillard, who portrayed Stu Macher in the original 1996 film, has confirmed his comeback after nearly three decades.
Additionally, Scott Foley, known for his role as Roman Bridger in “Scream 3,” is also slated to return.
The narrative mechanics behind these resurrections remain undisclosed, sparking fan speculation about potential flashbacks, dream sequences, or alternative storytelling methods. The film will also introduce new characters, with Isabel May cast as Sidney Prescott’s daughter and Joel McHale portraying Sidney’s husband.
“Scream 7” marks a significant milestone as Kevin Williamson, the original creator of the series, takes on the directorial role for the first time. Williamson expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with returning cast members and exploring fresh narratives within the beloved horror universe.
The film is currently in production and is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.
