This new ANACONDA movie news has been confusing up to this point. Is it a serious reboot? Hell, the original movie wasn’t very serious. But it is serious enough that they’ve thrown some money behind it. So, it isn’t about to be another direct to the $5 dollar DVD bin at Walmart. Not with the great cast of Paul Rudd, Steve Zahn, and Jack Black behind it. So, it’s a comedy most likely. But a behind the scenes promo featured Black calling it a “big fuckin’ snake” and making a cum joke. So, at least this isn’t going to be a JUMANJI type situation.
Paul Rudd, today, talking to Collider, slappa’d da bass and painted a clearer picture of what we can expect from the giant snake flick, saying:
“Did you see ‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’? So, it’s the same director, and the tone of that movie which was kind of a meta comedy, and it’s like that. It’s about a bunch of people who were certainly inspired by and loved the movie Anaconda from the ’90s. But it’s not a remake. It’s a totally unique thing. It’s funny.“
That just makes the Scream fan in me get harder than Jon Voight staring at Jennifer Lopez the original film. It’s going to be meta as fuck! I have a feeling that if they keep the R-rated comedy up (something that is a rarity in this bitch ass world, these days) and throw some fun horror aspects in there as well? We could have something pretty special on our hands.
Speaking of special…..revisit the original ANACONDA with J and I in a full commentary HERE.
